On April 23, 2022, Sonnet, the designated operator of the autonomous paid transport pilot service in Daegu, held an autonomous robotaxi experience event in collaboration with Daegu City, the National Daegu Science Museum, and SWM Co., Ltd. to celebrate Science Month.Many families visited early in the day and showed great interest.Participants had the opportunity to see real autonomous vehicles, listen to explanations from researchers, and even enjoy test rides—an experience that brought the future of everyday mobility one step closer.Although the event has ended, Sonnet’s autonomous robotaxi service "raxi" remains available in the Daegu Technopolis area.

From April 28–29, 2022, the Sonnet-Inavi consortium held a kick-off meeting for the second year of the government-funded project “Development of a Level 4 Minivan-Class Autonomous Driving Platform for Designated Area-Based Point-to-Point Mobility.” Led by Sonnet, the consortium includes Kakao Mobility, Inavi Systems, Thinkware, and DGIST, with support from Korea’s Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.The project aims to deliver a robotaxi service in areas such as Pangyo and Daegu Technopolis.Users will input departure and destination points, and the system will generate an optimized route for fully autonomous vehicles to operate without driver intervention.Key components include Sonnet’s patented “Autonomous Driving Safety Map,” integration of Navigation Data Standard, precision mapping, autonomous path generation, and hardware platform development.The consortium is now accelerating efforts to combine these technologies into a cohesive, next-generation robotaxi service.

On July 10, 2023, Sonnet, a leading autonomous robotaxi company, hosted a global trends seminar focused on revitalizing the autonomous mobility ecosystem.Co-organized with DGIST and sponsored by Daishin Securities, the event gathered experts from public institutions, corporations, and academia, including representatives from Daegu City, Samsung Electronics, and STEPI. The seminar addressed the role of autonomous mobility in mitigating the decline of public transport in aging and depopulated regions.Topics included domestic and international smart mobility trends, integration with urban space, and cybersecurity in autonomous vehicles. Sonnet Chairman Junwoo Son proposed the launch of the “Korea Robotaxi Initiative (KORI),” a strategic private-led alliance.The initiative aims to unite experts in software, vehicle platforms, sensors, and infrastructure to create a cost-efficient yet high-quality Korean robotaxi ecosystem in anticipation of rapid global market growth over the next 10–20 years.

Sonnet participated in the World Smart City Expo 2023 (WSCE 2023), held from September 6 to 8 at KINTEX in Ilsan. The event, which brought together smart city technologies and autonomous driving, was a resounding success.Approximately 1,000 visitors experienced Sonnet’s indoor autonomous driving zone, including attendees from the United States, Japan, Germany, Saudi Arabia, the Philippines, Vietnam, as well as domestic companies, municipalities, research institutes, and universities.Sonnet was honored to receive the Minister of Science and ICT Award at the 2023 WSCE Excellent Company Business Fair, in recognition of its outstanding performance and potential in the field of autonomous mobility—a key component of future smart cities.At this year’s event, Sonnet unveiled a new shuttle-type autonomous vehicle, equipped with its proprietary AutoDrive™ technology, for the first time. The enhanced shuttle, based on an existing electric vehicle, demonstrated stable and reliable autonomous driving, drawing strong interest and praise from visitors.Both those familiar with autonomous vehicles and first-time riders enjoyed a quiet and smooth ride along the indoor test route, observing the vehicle operate safely without a driver.Sonnet remains committed to leading the future of autonomous mobility as a specialized robotaxi company.Thank you for your continued support.

Starting January 9, 2023, Sonnet, a leading autonomous mobility company, launched a driverless shuttle service for tourists in Gangneung, a coastal city newly connected by the Gangneung KTX line.The service aims to provide easy and free transportation for visitors to explore the city's key attractions without needing a car.The service operates on three routes—A, B, and C—linking locations such as Ojukheon, Gyeongpo Lake, Songjeong Beach, and Anmok Coffee Street.On Route B, a Kona EV-based autonomous vehicle connects Gangneung's historical and ecological sites, including the traditional house of Shin Saimdang and Yulgok Yi I.Despite being driverless, each vehicle is staffed with a trained safety operator and undergoes route inspections every morning to ensure operational safety.Sonnet emphasizes reliability and safety, aiming to offer a convenient and reassuring travel experience to all visitors through its autonomous shuttle system.* This service is no longer in operation.
